Microbiology and Risk Factors for Hospital-Associated Bloodstream Infections Among Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Recipients

Drs. Ibukun Akinboyo and Michael Smith, DCASIP faculty in the Duke University Medical Center Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, worked together with faculty from University of North Carolina and Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine (Chicago) on an article for Open Forum Infectious Diseases to describe risk factors for hospital associated bloodstream infections among pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. 

Children undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) are at high risk for hospital-associated bloodstream infections (HA-BSIs). This study aimed to describe the incidence, microbiology, and risk factors for HA-BSI in pediatric HSCT recipients.
