Researchers within the Center have created and continue to grow a biorepository of microbiological and stool specimens. Since 2012, six of the Duke Infection Control Outreach Network (DICON) hospitals have provided specimens from patients with multi-drug resistant organism and Clostriduim difficile infections. Our group currently collects microbiological and stool specimens from patients with MDRO infections in these community hospitals. The biorepository currently has more than 1,800 specimens, including more than 500 methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and 500 C.difficile isloates. Studies using this resource have focused on the molecular epidemiology of infection in community hospitals.
